Blog #13

If I had to rate my blog experience on a scale of 1 through 10 I would give it an 8. I really enjoyed some of the questions and got into them. I didn’t find it difficult at all to find time once a week to write a few hundred words. The only blog I missed was the eight blog and I only missed it because I never got an email about it. I don’t know how that happened but I intended to write every single blog.
My favorite blogs were the one when we wrote about our closest friends and this past one when we talked about where we would be when we are 40. I enjoyed reflecting on where I would be in 20 years. It was a cool way to kind of put all my goals and dreams out there. I look forward to raising a family. Writing about my closest friends was cool because I had just made a video that had all my good friends in it and I thought it was perfect to fit that in there.
In the earlier blogs I really got into talking about my faith and what I believe in. I got a lot out of writing about what I think of God and Religion. It was a cool exercise because I had really been thinking of those issues and it helped to put them onto paper.
The blog that I found was the most difficult was the one when we had to talk about how our experience at Loyola has been a Jesuit experience. I kind of drew a blank and couldn’t think of anything besides your class. I am just finishing my first year here so I know that was the main reason but I still felt like I should have been able to come up with something. I really struggled to get over 300 words on that one.
I really think that you should continue giving students the choice to do the blog or write the essay. I would say that you can tell if a student is serious about your class if they choose to do the blog. It’s easy to sit there at the beginning of the semester and choose to do the essay so you don’t have to worry about it for another few months. Students that pick to do the blog realize that their going to have to keep up with it every week but it is much easier than writing a long essay right during finals. I thought it was an obvious choice to go with the blog. I can write 500 words on a bunch of different subjects as opposed to having to write 2000 words on one subject.
I liked getting your feedback from my blogs because I really did put thought and effort into them. I think you should stick with it next year. Thanks for a great semester. I learned a lot from you and Iggy.

Forty years old. Hopefully when I’m 40 I will still look much younger. People always tell me looking young will pay off when I’m older. I see myself as a 40 year old who looks like he’s in his late 30’s. I don’t think I will lose my immature sense of humor. I will still crack stupid jokes and draw penises on other people’s things.
My wife will have to love these qualities because lets face it, she knew what she was getting when she married me. I will have been married for around 10 years. I don’t know if I have met my wife yet or not. But I do know one thing, if I do know her, I’m not expecting her to be my wife.
My wife and I will have 3 kids, two girls and a boy. My little boy will be the youngest. Their names will be Summer, Sophia and Sammy. Summer is the oldest. She is four years older than Sophia and Sammy. Sophia and Sammy are two years apart.
I will be living in Mandeville, Louisiana. I’ll raise my kids on the lakefront, right around where I grew up. I will be a big sports dad. I’ll coach my son’s football team and go to all my daughters’ practices. We will be a very competitive family so we will bring out the best in each other. It won’t always be pretty though.
I will be working for FOX 8 News. I will be the exclusive Saint’s sideline reporter. I will travel with the team and be the only reporter allowed in the locker room. They’ll let me do this because they’ll know how dedicated I am to the team and I would never let out any information that would hurt the Saints. When they win the Super Bowl, I would also get a ring. I would also be a part time scout for the team. I would have a chance to give my input on players that I feel will fit the system and would be available for us when we draft. My job would be very unique and no other reporter in the country would have hands on interaction with their team like I will.
My family will be very close. They will be close to their aunts and uncles and cousins. I have a big family now so after we each spit out a few kids were gonna be our own community. I will live close to my sisters and brothers. Everywhere we go, other families will be like, “Oh God, here come the Sanderson’s”, and we’ll love it.
The more I write and think about this the closer it seems. I have a lot that I have to take care of if this is going to be my life. I believe that we can all turn our dreams into realities if we really try. If this is what my life ends up being, I’ll be one lucky guy. I look forward to making this dream come true.

What has made my time at Loyola a Jesuit experience? This is a hard question for me to answer. The main reason is because I am just finishing up my second semester here.
My first semester didn’t have anything that stuck out as really Jesuit. I took the religious studies course but we really didn’t focus on the Jesuits at all. The class mostly just broadly covered a number of religions. We really only spent like a week on Christianity.
I know you said not to use your class as an example but it is honestly the only Jesuit experience I have had so far at Loyola. Before your class I wasn’t familiar at all with the Jesuits or Ignatius Loyola. I singed up for your class for that very reason. I really wanted to know about the guy my school is named after but I have learned so much more than that so far.
I’ve really learned a lot about LIFE. I feel like there are a ton of life lessons that are taught in your class. Several times so far this semester I’ve found myself sitting in my desk and finding current things in my life that relate to what your talking about. Things like not making big decisions in the heat of the moment and other ways to think about relationships. I think a lot of this is because I broke up with my girl friend of 5 years right at the beginning of this semester. I guess I was spending a lot of time searching for answers and going back-and-forth on whether I made the right decision or not. I still don’t know the answer to that question but I do realize that this is part of life and nothing that I’ve gone through is unique.
I’m getting a little off topic but I’m trying to show how your class has taught me more lessons than just Ignatius’ life. Hopefully by next year I have more Jesuit experiences than just your class. I hope I don’t lose points for not having a different experience to talk about!!
